Understanding yourself is the first step

Common Therapy Topics

Every journey starts with the first step, and you just made yours.

Common therapy topics are front and centre.  Some of us are not ready or do not know where to start the journey but we might be ready to learn and explore topics related to our issues. At Conscientia Counselling we have a love for learning. If curiosity is the main reason you are visiting us and you are generally aware of areas where you would like to work, you  can surely start in our FIRST STEPS page where we offer resources and materials to help you deeper in your journey. If, on the other hand,  you are uncertain, you can basically start by reading these articles that contain some of the common reasons people seek therapy. Obviously,  you can reach out to us at any time if you are ready to talk it out.

Working through depression

It is important to learn how to label our emotions. Emotions can be uncomfortable but they are still useful. They point us in the direction of something that matters to us.

Managing your anxiety

Anxiety is an evolutionary trait of all humans. However, sometimes anxiety can be a pathology that stops us from living the life we were meant to be. The stories we tell ourselves play a big role in our anxiety.

Love relationships

Falling in love is easy, staying in love is hard. Through couples counselling partners learn to communicate better, and to understand and appreciate their strengths and their differences. Our goal is to help couples make the appropriate changes to make their relationship great.

Physical and Mental Health

Mental health IS physical health. We are all the combination of several systems which influence and interact with each other. The state of your mental health, interacts both physiologically and psychologically with your overall state. Likewise, the choices you make for your body will have an effect on your mental state.

Trauma

Trauma is not what happened to you, it is how you reacted because of what happened to you. We all have different ways to perceive the world and if you have experienced something that changed the way you are, then chances are you experienced trauma.
Most of us have experienced something that we just justify as “that’s just they way I am” but is it?
