What is CBT Therapy?

CBT stands for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, a powerful tool for identifying your triggers and developing strategies to address them. It focuses on your schemas – your thoughts and beliefs about specific areas of your life, such as relationships, anxiety, depression, and more.

However, we don’t stop at symptom management. Once CBT helps stabilize the client, we explore deeper issues using other therapeutic modalities. This ensures that we address the root causes of anxiety, depression, or other challenges – not just the surface symptoms. 

CBT counselling helps clients “ride the waves” of anxiety, fear, and depression, providing relief and stability. Once clients reach this point, we may integrate other approaches, such as Interpersonal Therapy or Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), to delve further into the core issues driving their challenges. 

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is our first line of treatment – like the “antibiotics” of therapy. It offers practical, immediate relief, setting the stage for deeper work that leads to lasting change.
