About us

A little bit about me

I am originally from Cuba and came to Canada in 2000 after we got married. My husband was born and raised in Calgary, and he is descendant from Indian parents…yes quite the mix. We have two children.

I studied a Bachelor in Education in Cuba where I also practiced teaching for the first two years of my career. When I moved to Canada, I worked as a teacher assistant for couple of years until I was able to validate my degree, soon after I was working as a teacher in a loving and supportive school. As the years went by, I realized that something was missing and my work with teenagers opened my eyes and the doors to a realm of new possibilities…counselling.

I finished my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2015 and started my own counselling practice right away in January 2016. I was hired to work on a part-time basis with a wonderful organization called Insight Counselling and Therapy Centre with which I remain linked professionally. At Insight I helped with the supervision of students that wanted to become counsellors.

In 2017 I became a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and I am currently working to become a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Alberta Counselling Therapy Association and soon, the College of Counselling Therapist of Alberta.

Post degree I have training in Transactional Analysis and in Gottman Levels I and II.

Our mission

My mission is to help you live a life with awareness and clear understanding of your needs and goals.

I do not believe in the "one size fits all" kind of approach to therapy. I believe that each client can benefit from different therapeutic approaches,  depending on their presenting problems and where they are in their lives. This is why I tailor the work that I do to fit the needs of the client. In my practice I use Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Gestalt, and Reality Therapy (RT) and Gottman method when working with couples.  We work through different presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career changes, parenting, overall life dissatisfaction, and much more.
